Croatia has been declared the destination of the year at the Kazakhstan International Exhibition (KITF), held on 20-22 April in Almaty, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) reported on Thursday.

KITF has been held since 2001, and this year it was the first time for the HTZ to attend the travel show.

In the last five years, approximately 3,000 Kazakhs visited Croatia annually, except in the pandemic years 2020 and 2021 when these numbers were lower.

In 2021, 2,500 visitors from Kazakhstan travelled to Croatia and made 17,000 overnight stays. Last year, 3,000 Kazakhs visited Croatia and generated 18,000 overnight stays.
