Croatia will be the partner country at this year's f.re.e. travel and recreation fair in Munich, organisers of one of Germany's most important travel shows announced at a press conference in Munich on Thursday.

The fair, due to take place from February 19 to 23, will be attended by a Croatian delegation headed by Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin and Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) Director Meri Matesic.

Addressing over 40 German and other reporters at the press conference, the head of the HTZ Office in Germany, Mato Radic, stressed the importance of the f.re.e fair for Croatian tourism and highlighted the advantages of Croatia for holidaymakers from Bavaria. He said that Croatia is close to Bavaria and easily accessible by all modes of transport, which makes it an ideal destination both for longer holidays and for short or weekend trips.

Bavarian tourists account for about 30% of the German tourists vacationing in Croatia.

Last year the f.re.e fair featured over 1,500 exhibitors from about 50 countries and attracted 110,000 visitors.
