About 70% of Norwegians want to travel abroad for holidays, and their most sought-after destinations are Greece and Croatia, according to findings of a survey conducted by the Norvegian Apollo tour operator.

Commenting on these results, Vedran Sušić, the director of the Croatian Tourism Board (HTZ) representative office in Sweden, which also covers Norway and Scandinavia, was quoted by the HTZ on Wednesday as saying that air companies from that market showed interest in increasing the number of flights to Croatia this summer in comparison to 2020.

The SAS and Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA airlines plan to operate flights from several Norwegian cities to Split and to other airports along the Croatian Adriatic coast, says Sušić.

The survey was conducted among 1,500 respondents.

In 2020, only 4,000 Norwegian tourists visited Croatia and generated 24,000 overnight stays. In 2019, as many as 185,000 Norwegians travelled to Croatia and made more than a million overnight stays.
