Croatia among most popular summer holiday destinations for Czechs

Croatia continues to be among the most popular summer holiday destinations for Czech tourists, and positive figures are expected from that market this year, the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Monday after the Holiday World travel show in Prague where the HTZ won a silver medal for concept and stall setup. Holiday World is one of the most important travel shows in the Czech Republic. This year it took place from February 21 to 24, bringing together exhibitors from around the world.

"The Czech Republic is an important market for Croatian tourism, and we are glad to see that Croatia continues to be the number one summer holiday destination among Czech tourists. We expect that a new Ryanair route, which will connect Prague and Zadar as of April, will also contribute to positive trends from that market this year," HTZ director Kristjan Stanicic said.

With nearly 800,000 arrivals and 5.5 million bed nights last year, the Czech Republic is the fifth strongest market for Croatian tourism, the head of the HTZ Prague office, Dubravko Miholic, said.

Given that Czech tourists are known as great nature lovers, the Croatian stand featured special presentations of the Paklenica and Krka national parks. (Hina)
