A majority of the 13 continental counties registered rises in tourist arrivals and nights in the first half of 2024 compared to the corresponding period of 2023, but they still make up a mere 7.75% of all arrivals and 4% of all tourist nights in Croatia, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) reports.

The HTZ has presented data for all the 13 counties (without the City of Zagreb), and the data released on Tuesday show that in H1 2024, 560,000 guests visited those counties and make over 1.1 million overnight stays, +8% and +7.1% respectively on the year.

Karlovac County and Krapina-Zagorje County rank first and second in terms of tourist arrivals in the first six months of 2024.

Thus, Karlovac County recorded 117,200 visitors and 195,400 overnight stays (+4.6% and +3%), while the northwestern county with the seat in Krapina reported rises of 8% to 92,000 arrivals and 186,300 tourist nights.

In terms of absolute numbers, the northeastern Virovitica-Podravina County had the smallest number of guests (8,400) and 17,000 overnight stays, however, it recorded the highest increase, +25.1% and +20.6% respectively.
