Cavtat: Presentation of Tourist Awards Blue and Green Flowers

With the presentation of the tourist awards of the Croatian National Tourist Board (Hrvatska turistčka zajednica – HTZ), ‘The Blue and Green flower 2005’, for the most representative tourist destinations in the maritime and continental part of Croatia, as well as the awarding of the tourist employee of the year, tonight at the hotel 'Croatia' in Cavtat, this year's 'Croatian tourist days' were finally concluded.

The winners of the HTZ award 'Blue Flower 2005’, within the project ' I love Croatia’, as most representative cities along the coast were Dubrovnik, Rab, Split and Umag. The winners in the category of county centers were Baška Voda, Baška, Vrsar and Primošten followed by the towns of Promajna, Jezera and Funtana.

A special award for the successful functioning of the tourist season received 'Jadrolinija', Croatian Motorways and the Ministry of the Interior.
Further, 12 Blue Flower diplomas were handed out for individual elements of the tourist offer along the coast (best square, street, park, public beach, souvenir, original tourist offer and other).

The award Green Flower 2005, for the most representative cities in the interior of the country received Varaždin, Velika Gorica and Bjelovar. The best small cities were Daruvar, Novska and Našice, and in the category of most representative towns, the winners were Molve, Marija Bistrica and Sv. Martin na Muri.

Also handed out were 13 Green Flower diplomas for individual elements in 10 categories (balcony, garden, gas station, bathing resort and other).
Acknowledgements as employees of the year within the HTZ action ‘Tourist Employee – key to success’, received 23 persons, among them Lovro Misir from the German tourist agency 'Misir Sonnenlandreisen' from Essen as best travel organizer and Katarina Hauptfeld from the tourist agency 'Katarina Line' in Opatija as best agency employee.

In the category of providing tourist information, the winner was Ivan Salamon from the Kvarner region, the best tourist entertainer was Ljiljana Walker Gudelj from Rovinj, best tourist guide Zinka Hadžić from Zagreb and best receptionist Lucijana Rodela from Opatija.

The title of best cook of the year won Marinko Jurešić from Umag, best waiter Alen Mravić from Rabac, best room maid Mirjana Maraš from Zadar, best customs officer Nada Krivokuća from the Bregana station, best police officer Marko Braica from Knin and best inspector Ante Ročak from Zadar.

Antonio Bezek from Orebić was pronounced best private renter, Nikša Bulaš from Dubrovnik - best driver, Slavko Matiček from Zagreb - best cab driver, Ivanka Blašković from Pula and Josip Dragun from Vinkovci - best sales persons, and Ekrem Hamidović from Pula won the title of  best cleaner.

Also awarded were Stanko Birin from Vodice as an employee of horticulture, the enologist Ivan Sokolić, Ante Jurišić from within the tourist organizations system, Ante Marvica from 'Jadrolinija' and Andrea Galovac – Ivanović from Croatia Airlines.

The Minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development Božidar Kalmeta, Niko Bulić the director of the head office of the HTZ and Mato Obradović , representative of the President Stjepan Mesić, who besides the Croatian Government was also one of the main patrons of the whole event, congratulated all the winners.(Hina)
