The government put forward amendments to the law on tourist board membership fees on Thursday, proposing a 12% cut to the fees as of January 1.

Tourism and Sport Minister Nikolina Brnjac said that the reduction opened up the possibility of reducing monthly membership fee advance payments given a considerable drop in business activity due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"The purpose of this proposal is to reduce parafiscal charges to reduce the burden on businesses and create a stimulating and competitive environment, which is in accordance with the government action plan to reduce non-tax and parafiscal charges during the 2020-2024 term," Brnjac said.
