8.5 % More Tourists in Zagreb in First Half of This Year

The number of tourists visiting Zagreb rose by 8.5 percent to 261,745 during the first six months of 2006 in comparison to the same period in 2005, the statistics office of the Zagreb City government reported.

The number of their overnight stays rose by 9.2 percent to 456,168.

In the first half of this year, there were 175,437 foreign visitors
(9.3 percent rise) in the Croatian capital who made 10.4 percent more overnight stays (310,318 stays) than in the comparable period of the last year.

The number of Croatian tourists visiting Zagreb rose by 6.9 percent to 86,308, while their overnight stays increased by 6.7 percent to 145,850.

Germans are on the top of the list of foreign tourists with 20,789 arrivals. They are followed by Austrians (14,752) and Italians (12,844). In the first half of this year, 7,220 Japanese tourists visited Zagreb.
