This year, 40 new or refurbished hotels, camps, tourism resorts and aparthotels will open in Croatia, the Ministry of Tourism reported on Friday, adding that this was an investment 'boom' which shows that tourism is one of the most competitive sectors in Croatia's economy.

"Opening so many hotels and other accommodation capacities in Croatia this year, particularly on the Adriatic coast, confirms that investors have recognised our goal for strategic development in tourism. Steady data of greater tourist turnover and consumption are indicators that Croatia is attractive for investors," Tourism Minister Anton Kliman said. He added that it is "up to us to direct quality marketing, promotions and branding to ensure that Croatia becomes even more attractive."

New hotel and accommodation capacities are being opened around the country from Istria and the northern Adriatic including several hotels and camps as well as in the interior.

In Sibenik-Knin Country the Ministry pointed out several resorts and in particular the Solaris hotels resort and the completely refurbished Hotel Jure.

Zadar which was voted as Best Destination in Europe in 2016 will also open several new hotels.

New hotels and accommodation capacities are being opened in Split-Dalmatia County and in Dubrovnik-Neretva County.

According to the Ministry, several new capacities are being opened in the interior, for  example the Bizovac Thermal Springs near the eastern town of Osijek.

In the capital of Zagreb, the Sheraton is in its final stages of refurbishment and reconstruction is planned for the Westin Hotel as well as hotels in towns in the county around Zagreb.
