2023 tourism revenues up 11.4% to €14.6 bn, indicators give rise to optimism for 2024

​Croatia's tourism revenue from foreign visitors increased by 11.4% to €14.6 billion in 2023, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports reported on Friday based on Croatian National Bank (HNB) data, adding optimism is present for the pre-season and all of 2024.

According to HNB data, revenues from foreign tourists in the fourth quarter of 2023 amounted to €1.63 billion, or a growth of 10.9% compared to the same period in the record 2022, up by €160 million.

"The record revenues from foreign tourists in 2023 confirm the growth trend we recorded throughout that year and the good results in the pre and post-season, which is extremely important to us. With everything achieved in the past year, but also with the indicators and predictions at the beginning of this year, we can be just as satisfied, because it confirms that we are on the right path to achieving strategic goals that will enable Croatia to be a sustainable, year-round and competitive destination in the future," said Minister Nikolina Brnjac.

"Credits for all the results we have achieved go  to all employees in the tourism sector, and I believe that with the joint synergy of all stakeholders and in a strong partnership with the government, this positive trend will continue in the future," said Brnjac in a press release from the ministry.

In the pre-season of 2024, a number of travellers increased by 10% to 971,000 compared to the corresponding period of 2023 and overnight stays rose 8% to 2.6 million, which gives rise to optimism.
