€17.2m contract signed for wellness tourism in Topusko

​A €17.2 million grant contract was signed on Thursday for sustainable medical and wellness tourism in Topusko, about 90 km south of Zagreb.

The contract was signed by Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac, Director of the Central Financing and Contracting Agency Dragan Jelić, and Director of the Topusko Health Resort Domagoj Mosler.

This government has allocated €105 million for health tourism projects in continental Croatia, which is as much as 80 per cent of the total allocation of €131 million, Brnjac said. She added that the project would contribute to the regional economy by creating new jobs, strengthening small and medium enterprises, and improving the wellbeing of the local community.

After the completion of the project, the Topusko Health Resort Hotel will have 175 accommodation units with 302 beds, including five suites, and various wellness facilities.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports said in a press release that wellness tourism in Croatia was growing at an annual rate of 6.5 per cent.
