Croatia promotes tourist trade at Munich travel showThe Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) is promoting the Croatian tourist trade at the most important Bavarian travel and leisure fair, f.re.e, in Munich this week, the HTZ said on Friday. "Croatia is one of the favourite destinations for Bavarians and this year we expect about five percent more tourists from this German region. One more Croatian hotel company raises wages of its employeesPlava Laguna on Tuesday signed a few agreements and an annex to the collective agreement whereby salaries of employees of that Porec-based hotel company would increase by 7% on average. The rise in salaries and other entitlements are a result of negotiations held between the management and two trade unions that insisted on equalising the entitlements of Plava Laguna and the Istraturist company after the latter was acquired by Plava Laguna. In addition, Plava Laguna will also invest 50 million kuna in the improvement of its workers' accommodation. 20.02.2018. | News
Valamar Riviera to increase employee salariesThe Valamar Riviera hotel company has decided to increase its wage budget by 11.5% in 2018 with focus on a rise in salaries of basic occupations in the company and the increase has been agreed to with two trade unions in the company, the Porec-based company stated in a press release on Monday. Following agreement with social partners, the base wage rate will rise by 4%, whereas 7.5% of the total wage budget will be additionally invested in raising salaries for occupations such as chefs, cooks, waiting staff, room maids and cleaners, Valamar Riviera stated. 19.02.2018. | News
Croatian minister proposes setting up special EU fund for tourismCroatian Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli proposed at the Tourism and Economic Growth conference in Sofia, Bulgaria, the establishment of a special EU fond for tourism and task force within EU institutions, the Croatian Tourism Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday. The Sofia conference, organised within the Bulgarian chairmanship of the European Union, was held on 12 and 13 February, bringing together tourism ministers and their associates form all 28 EU member states. 15.02.2018. | News

Croatia sees 13% increase in number of tourists in commercial accommodationSome 17.4 million tourists stayed in commercial accommodation in Croatia in 2017 and generated 86.2 million overnight stays, which are increases of 13% and 10.6% respectively compared to 2016, the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) said on Tuesday. About 90% of the tourists were foreigners. ​Croatia records fewer visits by foreign cruise ships in 2017The number of foreign cruise ships visiting the Croatian Adriatic was down in 2017 compared to 2016. A total of 691 foreign cruise ships visited Croatia in 2017, down 16.2 percent (135 cruise ships) compared with 2016, carrying 947,300 passengers or 13.3 percent fewer than the year before, figures from the National Bureau of Statistics show. 12.02.2018. | News
