Croatia's National Tourist Board (HTZ) and the Slovenian Tourist Board have been given €100,000 for a promotional campaign in Australia, HTZ informed in a press release on Monday.

The European Tourism Commission (ETC) will co-finance the campaign called "Croatia and Slovenia: Full of Ways to Feel and Explore", which will be conducted in Australia until November 2020. The overall value of that joint project is €200,000 while €100,000 has been approved in support from the ETC.

The campaign is aimed at positioning Croatia and Slovenia as attractive all-year-round destinations with special focus on active and adventure tourism, natural beauty as well as undiscovered tourist destinations for higher-paying guests.

The campaign will promote the rich, cultural and historical heritage, local wines and gastronomy of both countries, HTZ said, recalling that last year European funds were approved for the "Experience Croatia, Feel Slovenia" campaign which was focused on the Chinese market.

The campaign includes the organisation of workshops for tourist agencies and tour operators in Sydney and Melbourne as well as advertising in digital media. Cooperation will also be established with Australian influencers who will visit Croatia and Slovenia in spring next year.

An on-line campaign will also be conducted on one of the leading internet tourist agencies on the Australian market to present Croatia and Slovenia.

HTZ added that it and Slovenia's tourist board had successfully attracted funding from the ETC for their transnational campaign on distant markets as part of the Destination Europe project and the Horizon 2022 new strategy. A total of 18 applications were received while 11 projects were successful in attracting funding.

HTZ Director Kristjan Stanicic is quoted as saying that Croatia and Slovenia's joint promotion on distant markets, particularly this one which will be conducted on the large Australian market, is a unique example of the successful cooperation of the two countries in their tourism promotion. (Hina)
