Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe
The Council of Europe glaunched the Cultural Routes initiative which develops innovative projects in the field of cultural tourism and sustainable cultural development.
It aims to develop tourism products by taking into account the local, regional, national and European identities and promote the dialogue between urban and rural cultures, between all European regions, especially between the developed and less developed regions, and make the public aware that protecting cultural heritage is necessary for a sustainable development of the territory.
Finally, Cultural Routes must diversify supply and demand in order to encourage the development of quality tourism with an European dimension and enable public-private partnerships in the field of sustainable tourism so as to develop tourism products and tools focused on the public and tourism users.
