Dubrovacka Rivijera Hotels, the Pliva pharmaceutical company, the Podi Business Zone, and the Varazdin County physical planning and construction department are the winners of awards for the most successful investment projects, presented on Monday as part of the government's "Invest HR" conference. These projects prove that changes are indeed happening in terms of investments, government representatives said. About 40 major investment projects were presented at the conference which the state endorsed directly or through the Investment and Competitiveness Agency. Deputy Prime Minister Branko Grcic said current investments in Croatia were below HRK 70 billion annually, as against more than HRK 90 billion before the crisis, and that it was up to the government to additionally encourage them, especially foreign investments. He said tourism, industry and energy were the sectors with the biggest investment potential.

U srijedu, 27. svibnja u Rovinju započinje jubilarna 100. sjednica Izvršnog vijeća Svjetske turističke organizacije (UNWTO). Rovinj će tom prilikom ugostiti 200-tinjak sudionika, odnosno 40-ak delegacija iz cijeloga svijeta, među kojima je glavni tajnik UNWTO-a Taleb Rifai, potpredsjednik Irana, ujedno i predsjednik Iranske organizacije za kulturno naslijeđe, umjetnički obrt i turizam (ICHTO), Masoud Soltanifar, osam ministara turizma (Argentina, Azerbajdžan, Brazil, Jamajka, Južna Afrika, Gambija, Zimbabve), ali i veliki broj zamjenika ministara turizma, državnih tajnika te ostalih turističkih čelnika i stručnjaka. Domaćin događaja je ministar turizma RH, Darko Lorencin koji naglašava: „Biti domaćin ovako velikog događaja zaista je iznimna čast i priznanje našoj zemlji koje nam je pružila Svjetska turistička organizacija, odnosno članice koje su nas odabrale. Rovinj će ovih dana ugostiti brojne turističke čelnike i stručnjake iz cijeloga svijeta koji će tijekom nekoliko dana imati prilike upoznati dio ljepota Hrvatske, odnosno Istre i to će biti odlična prilika za promociju naše zemlje. Priprema događaja odvijala se na vrlo visokoj razini i vjerujem da ćemo opravdati dobiveno povjerenje te svima pokazati zašto je Hrvatska posljednjih nekoliko godina jedno od najtraženijih turističkih odredišta među turistima iz cijeloga svijeta“. Glavni tajnik Taleb Rifai tom je prilikom istaknuo zašto je Hrvatska odabrana za domaćina jubilarne sjednice te koje su prednosti i posebnosti naše zemlje: „Hrvatska je vodeća turistička destinacija i zemlja kojoj je razvoj turizma među prioritetima.  Vrlo smo zadovoljni što ćemo ovom povijesnom okruženju održati 100. sjednicu Izvršnog viječa UNNWTO-a te vjerujemo da će rezultati susreta biti uvelike inspirirani uspješnom pričom o turizmu Hrvatske“.
