Agrokor to invest EUR 100 mln in continental tourism

The Agrokor food concern announced on Friday it would invest EUR 100 million in the construction of a tourism and recreation centre in Daruvar.

A letter of intent was signed to that effect by Agrokor president Ivica Todoric, Bjelovar-Bilogora County prefect Miroslav Cacija, Daruvar mayor Dalibor Rohlik, and the director of the Daruvarske Toplice spa, Marcel Medak.

The Tourism Ministry supports the project as one of the biggest investments in continental tourism, one of the biggest greenfield investments in Croatian tourism, and the biggest investment in the county in the last 30 years, Minister Damir Bajs said, adding that, apart from continental tourism, it would also give great impetus to health tourism.

Bajs said Agrokor was ready for the realisation of the project's first part, a EUR 70 million investment in the construction and furnishing of the spa centre. A hotel and other facilities will be built at later stages.

Agrokor president Todoric said this was an investment of broad social significance.

The future centre will complement the medical rehabilitation hospital which is part of Daruvar's existing spa. (Hina)
