Construction of Libertas Rixos Hotel in Dubrovnik Starts

The construction of the Libertas Rixos hotel, the first of a number of hotels which the Rixos group plans to build in Croatia, started on Thursday.

The intensive construction works will be launched in early April. The hotel, worth 40 million euros, is expected to be completed in 14 to 15 months and will open for guests in the 2007 tourist season, Libertas Rixos director Mehmet Eskici told a news conference today.

The five star plus hotel will have 318 rooms, a 1,000 seat congress hall, a presidential suite, a playroom for children, a business centre, etc.

Turkish hotel chain Rixos purchased Libertas in March 2004 from Bulgaria"s Moultigroup Company.

The owner of the Rixos Company, Fettah Tamince, said Rixos planned to make more investments in Croatia. As part of its Croatian chain the Turkish company will open another four hotels, of which one would most definitely be located in Zagreb.

Also present at the ceremony marking the start of the construction works was the chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Bulent Arinc, who expressed satisfaction regarding his talks with Croatian officials. He also supported cooperation of Croatian and Turkish businessman.

During his visit to Dubrovnik Neretva County, Arinc held talks with local authorities. (Hina)
