Croatia among most important tourist destinations, says FIJET president

Many steps forward have been made in Croatian tourism in recent years in terms of accommodation and product which, alongside the preserved nature, the historical and cultural heritage, good roads and other infrastructure as well as traffic accessibility make Croatia ready to become one of the most important destinations in the Mediterranean and perhaps in the world, the president of the World Federation of Travel Journalists & Writers (FIJET), Tijani Haddad, told Hina on Friday. He said the concerted action of the public and private sectors in tourism and state incentives had also contributed to the progress of Croatian tourism in recent years. Haddad and FIJET representatives from 25 countries are visiting Croatia since May 22 and are scheduled to leave on Saturday.

Haddad said he visited Croatia several times since the 1990s and that the change for the better was evident everywhere, especially on roads and in accommodation and tourism product, which he said was now recognizable all over Europe. He voiced confidence that many tourists from around the world would visit Croatia this and in the coming years and that tourism revenue would be higher than now. He said the EUR 6-7 billion revenues generated in the recent years was good given the crisis, but added it could be higher if Croatia raised prices a little and expanded its offer. Haddad said the other FIJET representatives visiting Croatia felt the same. (Hina)
