HTZ: Double-digit growth in tourist arrivals and overnight stays YTD

There have been 3.4 million arrivals of tourists and 10.4 million overnights so far this year in Croatia, according to the eVisitor system, and the annual rises of 11% and 10% respectively and record high results in the pre-season herald the reduction of seasonality in the tourism industry.

The Croatian National Tourism Board's (HTZ) analysis of the statistics and data collected by the eVisitor system, which was presented at a recent meeting with the new tourism minister, Tonči Glavina, shows that Croatia's tourism sector is approaching its goal of being a year-round tourist destination.

Of those 3.4 million visitors year to date, 831,000 have been Croatians (+4.1% on the year) and they have made 1.9 million overnight stays (+2.5%). German guests rank second with 414,400 arrivals (+23.6%) and 1.6 million overnight stays (+16.5%).

There have been 341,100 Slovenian visitors so far (+8.4%) with a 9.2% rise to make a million overnight stays.

Austrians, Poles, Britons, BiH citizens, French, US citizens and Chinese have made top ten.

In terms of destination, the capital city of Zagreb has been the most sought-after destination YTD, and Dubrovnik has ranked second.

The remaining top ten destinations are coastal cities: Split, Rovinj, Poreč, Zadar,  Umag, Opatija, Pula and Medulin.

The data includes figures from tourist traffic in commercial and non-commercial facilities, as well as nautical charter (eCrew system).
