Krapina-Zagorje County makes FT top 10 of Small European Regions of the Future

Northern Croatia's Krapina-Zagorje County placed sixth in the top ten of Small European Regions of the Future 2024 on the Financial Times fDi Intelligence rankings, with prefect Željko Kolar saying on Friday it was a result of continuity, perseverance, a clear strategy and vision.Krapina-Zagorje County placed in the top ten in that category thanks to its strategy for attracting investment.

This is a great recognition for us as a region, for our business people and enterprises, for our education system, for the country as an institution and for all of us working on facilitating investment in the country as much as possible, while taking account of energy efficiency and ecology, Kolar said, underlining the green, digital and smart transformation.

In 2022, the county's economy generated €2.4 billion in revenue and investment increased by a gross 30%, said Sanja Mihovilić of the county department for the economy, agriculture, tourism, transport and communal infrastructure.

The county's strategy rests on talent development, international connections, innovations, sectoral focus, specific initiatives, and its geographical position, said Helena Matuša, director of the county's Enterprise Centre.
