Condolences extended on ex-national football team selector's death

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Wednesday extended condolences on the death of "legendary" football coach Miroslav Ćiro Blažević. In her reaction to the death, Tourism and Spots Minister Nikolina Brnjac said, "The coach of all coaches has left us... Your successes and achievements have left a mark on Croatian sports."

"The legendary Ćiro, the winner of the 1998 bronze, will forever be recorded in the history of the Croatian people and sports. His knowledge, achievements and philanthropy remain a lasting inspiration to future generations," Plenković said on Twitter.

Condolences were also extended by Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković, who called Blažević "the coach of all coaches" and a "great man". He also highlighted the 1998 FIFA World Cup bronze medal, and said "we are also eternally grateful to him for his committed advocacy of sporting culture and social tolerance."
