HTZ marks 20th anniversary of its Slovenia office

Slovenian tourists are exceptionally important for Croatia's tourism because they generate the second largest number of overnight stays, after Germans, and Croatia wants to attract as many young Slovenians as possible as well, the head of the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Wednesday.

HTZ director Kristjan Staničić made the statement at an event marking the 20th anniversary of the Ljubljana-based HTZ office in Slovenia.

The event was organised in Ljubljana in cooperation with the Istria Tourist Board and it was attended by numerous guests and partners as well as representatives of Slovenian media outlets.

"Slovenians are very welcome guests in Croatia, they know us well, notably Istria and Kvarner. They are also very loyal guests," Staničić said at the event, thanking Slovenian tourists and partners as well as media for cooperation in the last 20 years.

Istria County Tourist Board head Denis Ivošević underlined the importance of the Slovenian market for tourism in Istria, where Slovenians are the third most numerous guests, after Germans and Austrians.

HTZ Slovenia office head Metka Bradetić said that Slovenians followed Croatia's development as a tourist destination and that it offered products suiting different tastes.
