YTD tourist night numbers surpass last year's total by 500,000

Croatia has registered 55.3 million tourist nights so far this year, and hence year-to-date numbers exceed the total overnight stay statistics from 2020 by half a million, the Croatian tourism ministry said on Wednesday.

Tourists arrivals have reached nine million to date, or 1.2 million more than in the entire last year, according to the data collected by the e-visitor platform.

Of those 55.3 million nights, 46.6 million overnight stays were generated by foreign holiday-makers and 8.7 million by Croatians.

Tourism Minister Nikolina Brnjac was quoted as saying that that this year's trends showed that safety and quality were crucial factors in choosing a destination.

Our aim is to create sustainable tourism with its focus on the quality and on guests eager to consume as many amenities as possible in their destinations and thus generate higher spending, which can encourage new investments in the tourist sector, Brnjac said.
