Croatia well prepared for tourist season - panel

Croatia is well prepared for the tourist season, its epidemiological situation is currently good, and such good trends should be preserved so as to make sure that the results of this tourist season will be better than last year, heard a panel discussion organised by Vern University.

Addressing the event held by the Zagreb-based private university, the ambassadors of the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Austria and Germany said that their compatriots liked to visit Croatia as a tourist destination and that the health safety measures applied by the host country as well as facilitated arrivals and departures were most important for potential travellers.

Addressing the panel discussion via video link, German Ambassador Robert Klinke said that bookings for holidays in Croatia were on the rise in his country.

British Ambassador Andrew Dalgeish said that Britons were desperate for travelling.

Austrian Ambassador Markus Wuketich commented that all countries with good immunisation rates and an improved epidemiological situation could look forward to a better tourist season.

Slovak Ambassador Peter Susko said that the pandemic was not overcome and therefore focus should remain on anti-epidemic measures.

The director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ), Kristjan Staničić, said that he hoped that the results of this season would be better than 2020 and would hopefully reach 60% of the results of the pre-pandemic 2019.
