During a video conference with his counterparts in the Central European Initiative (CEI), Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has said that good cooperation between Central and East European countries is important for lifting travel restrictions and reactivating tourism, his office said on Friday.
Plenkovic underlined the importance of good cooperation between countries in Central and Eastern Europe in ensuring the flow of goods and movement of people and with regard to using the European Commission's recommendations on gradually lifting travel restrictions and reactivating tourism, a press release from the PM's office said.
The meeting discussed the health, economic and social consequences of the pandemic and of the measures to relieve the impact of the coronavirus on the population.
A joint statement was adopted on solidarity and cooperation between CEI members in facing the challenges caused by the pandemic.
The meeting was attended by CEI Secretary-General Roberto Antonione, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, World Health Organisation Regional Director for Europe Henri P. Klube and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development President Suma Chakrabarti.
CEI comprises the following member states: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
Montenegro is chairing the CEI this year.
