Cappelli says measures to ease impact of COVID-19 on tourism to be prepared

Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said on Wednesday that he hoped at least a part of the tourist season in July and August would proceed in normal conditions, and announced talks between the government and the tourism sector on measures to offset the fallout of COVID-19.

In response to reporters' questions, Cappelli said that possible measures to alleviate the consequences of the coronavirus on the tourist trade would be discussed with hoteliers and other stakeholders in the tourism sector in the coming days.

He added that the measures would be hammered out in the next few days. He admitted that the developments surrounding the coronavirus were adversely affecting the tourist trade worldwide. (Hina)
