Tourism revenues in Q1 rise 14% y-o-y

Tourism revenues in the first quarter of 2018 totalled EUR 450.2 million, up 14% on the year, the Tourism Ministry said on Friday, citing Croatian National Bank figures. With this revenue, tourism accounted for 4% of GDP, up 0.2 percentage points from the first quarter of 2017. Commenting on the revenues and their rise, Minister Gari Cappelli said they were a confirmation of the focus of the public and private sectors on competitive year-round tourism.

"It's also proof that, by creating new, quality offers and, thereby, reasons for tourists to arrive outside the summer months, excellent results can be achieved quickly. This year almost a billion euros is being invested in tourism, which will certainly add momentum to destination development and, thereby, Croatia's economic growth," said Cappelli.
