Primorje-Gorski Kotar County sees increase in tourist arrivals, overnight stays

In 2017, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County saw 2.9 million visitors, an increase of 8% from 2016, and 18.5 million overnight stays, an increase of 9%, the Kvarner Tourism Board has said.

Visitors from Germany, other parts of Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and Italy together accounted for 13.5 million or 73% of all overnight stays.

The most numerous foreign visitors were Germans (13% more arrivals), followed by domestic guests (2.9 million, up 8%), Slovenians, Austrians, Italians, Hungarians and the Czech.

The number of visitors from the United States increased by 60%. Over the past five years, the number of US guests in the Kvarner region has doubled, the tourism board said.

An additional 110,000 overnight stays were generated by boaters, an increase of 14% from 2016.
